The Baja Station - Beachfront Schoolbus

  • 6 Guests
  • 1 Bedroom
  • 5 Beds
  • 1 Bathroom

Our 40ft schoolbus is in the most epic location in La Fortuna, right in front of the break, with a queen bed, four bunks, kitchen and living room, right in front of the break in La Fortuna. Spacious living for a single person or couple and doable even for a group of six!

In the middle of the action at The Baja Station, you will have our Cafe Lounge to hang out in the hammocks all day, sip on ice coffee or margaritas and watch the waves before you take a few little steps down to the water.

Starlink wifi provides fast and reliable internet for those needing to work, live and surf. The several bars and restaurants nearby are all steps away, along with the village shop.

Our big red schoolbus has all the comforts of a home with a fully equipped kitchen with fridge and stove, giving the option to be self-sufficient during your beach break.

As an off-grid unit it is powered through solar panels with enough electricity for lights, fans and charging your devices. The water onboard is provided from the well on the property built over 80 years ago and the fridge is run on propane. Drinking water 'garafones' are provided from town.

There is a dry composting toilet onboard and a shower. The hot water function is currently out of use during these summer months but will be reinstated during october. There is also a 'normal' shared toilet nearby on the property available for use.

We've built a huge palapa over and around the bus to keep it cool even in the midday sun. It also provides a big outdoor shaded area for hanging out, doing yoga or protecting your gear.

You can see the wave from all the starboard windows and are literally steps away from the waters edge.

You will also have access to the Baja Station Cafe and communal space.

I live in a trailer on the property, behind the bus, so i'll be nearby to assist with anything you might need.

Since there is no public transportation on the East Cape, the best way to get around is with a rental car. The East Cape road that leaves from San Jose is paved with concrete until the last 5km, which is then dirt road. There are no gas stations once you leave San Jose so make sure you have plenty in your tank.

From San Jose centro, the journey takes 20 minutes on concrete and another 10 minutes on the dirt road. Add another 25 minutes to get to or from the airport. The dirt road is regularly graded so you do not need a 4x4, although it is best not to mention to the car rental company that you intend to drive to the East Cape.

Driving at night must be done with extreme caution as the road is unlit and there are often cows or donkeys hanging around on the dirt road which you won't see until the last minute, especially when navigating corners. Drive slow and enjoy the views.
